I see it was a while since you have written, but I just felt compelled to write back in case you have not found an answer yet. I don't have kidney disease, but I do use Dr. Shultz's products and they are the real deal. You need to order his " Healing kidney and bladder disease naturally" book. It would definately explain to you about your kidneys and how they work and why they are sick. You should go to his website or call his company american botanical pharmacy.
