If you feel that deep down there is/are some issues that you need to address, hypnosis may be the way to uncover supressed memories. Any time there is trama, the brain will supress those tramatic instances to protect itself. I agree with not opening a "can of worms," however, subconciously your current behavorial patterns, whether it'd be over eatings, low self esteem, nightmares, fears..etc, may be a result of these forgotten memories. And sometimes, more than not I believe, facing the truth, accepting it, and/or addressing the abuser, will set you free. But if there is truth to your speculations, be prepared to deal with the outcome.
