Staci, i was very much like you and then was diagnosed with a bad case of AF, compounded with severe hypoglycemia. What i thought was hormonal problems and perimenopause, really turned out not to be, even though all symptoms pointed to that. I had my hormones tested, and saliva testing is really the best way, not blood. after your period, you will give saliva samples for 30 days, based on your cycle, and send them to a lab. i was stunned when my sex hormones came back quite balanced. i had been taking a natural progesterone cream about 6 months previously, and had to stop it to take the test or it would not be realistic. I was not considered near menopause and i had been suffering terrible pms for years. Howeve, my adrenal tests came back(also saliva) and my cortisol was way off and my insulin was spiked, indidcating hypolgycemia. the thing is, you can't guess. I was taking a hormonal cream i did not need and it had begun making me feel out of whack, so until you know you need it, don't take it. I also read dr lee's book and believed i was had estrogen dominance, but my estrogen was perfect for my age!! i always self diagnose, but it is a gamble. since then i have begun treating myself with an herb called maca that balances all hormones and does it in such a way that it is not working on only one, but the entires hormonal system. all it does is nourish our hormones. it is a food, and peruvian women eat it daily and never suffer the symptoms of menopause like Americans do. they also stay fertile until quite old. I also take adrenal glandular for my AF, and kelp which balances the endochrine system. I take some other stuff too if you're interested. i just get tired of rewriting my story as i have been posting for over a year! Once i began eating well, gave up sugar, began sleeping better, quit caffeine and getting my blood Sugar stable, all my symptoms went away. leslie
