Hi Staci - I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. The wild yam is known to be ineffective. The body does not convert it to progesterone. It is my understanding that using natural usp progesterone is pretty safe, and actually helps guard against some cancers. I would definitely read that book by dr. Lee. I'm sure your local health food store will have it, and maybe even your library. It's very popular. It really made a very, very big difference for me. At your age, you can definitely be experiencing pre-menopause. It can actually start in the late 20s for some women.
There are many supplements that can support the adrenals. What I would suggest is doing a search on line for adrenal formulas. The things to be cautious about are the potential side effects of the supplements. For example, the licerace root which is commonly used can raise blood pressure. If you have no problem there it can be fine. Also, I personally will not use glandulars. These are pieces of the glands of animals. It may actually be effective for supporting your own glands, but I am concerned about the various diseases that can be transferred through these glands, regardless of how careful the companies say they are. All it takes is one meat inspector that's not on the up and up.
As far as food goes, a generally good diet that leaves out refined sugars and carbs, includes lots of leafy greens, protein, etc. is very helpful in taking stress off the body.
