My hair was falling out too, and it was from breaking off. I started taking Synthroid after they removed my thyroid (and 8 lymph nodes, from cancer). It turns out that makes a weak point where your hair starts, and a month or so later when it grows a little bit it breaks off. What worked for me was taking CoQ10. I'd taken it for a month in capsules with no noticable result, then started taking the chewable ones and within 2 weeks I started having much less hair in the shower every day and in my brush.
