yes, absolutely this is normal! my daughter was nursing most of the time and evryone (relatives etc)was blaming me b/c I would give breast anytime and never leave baby to others for more than minutes, but this is exactly what newborns need...their MOM. nothing else and no one else!
mine was nursing every 1 1/2 hours until she was 2 months, but she slept 8h at night without calling out. every baby is different. He cannot gt spoiled. Remember thet he has very little understanding so faR, he is too small. For him it is hard even aknowledging that he is no more inside of you!
I highly suggest you to get a sling/pouch.
