The 'door' was strictly a metaphor for the experience you described.
I assumed, wrongly, that you may have read a little Carlos Castaneda.
I didn't mean to push the Psychedelic button, but the neurochemical pathways induced by hallucinogens are natural ocurrences provided by nature. Thus the great gurus of yore could actually stimulate a 'LSD response' simply by touch, 'enlightenment'.
BUT without the tools to repeat the experience, ie: guidance of the guru, you miss the 'connection'.
The Prana and Atma (with the Ahimsa vow) of the ingoing and outgoing of breath is the consciouness of the universe in the Upaanishad/Vedas/Hindi/Brahma/Jain philosophy. Tantra is the physical manipulation of this force, as my meager mind understands the phenomena...Thus when you inhale you are drawing the ENTIRE silver cord of the universe, and exhalation is the exposing of yourself to CREATION. The more you understand this, the more powerful the energy of the BREATH and ultimately the removal of SELF from the physical world (divine enlightenment).
The period between the IN & OUT breath is the Nadis. The magic of the Nadis I believe is the experience you were describing.
Thus the Jains wear a cloth over their mouth to avoid consciously breathing in life.
Someone PLEASE correct me...
