I would highly recommend you look into the work of Dr Hal Huggins to get an idea on dangers and procedures for removal of Amalgams and root canals.
Improper removal of these toxic materials will often create more problems.
Ideally a biological dentist with good grasp and experience with Dr Hal Huggins protocols would be best - this means taking proper precautions during Amalgam removal like oxygen mask, rubber dam, low speed drill, vacuum, supplementation before and after procedure to draw any mercury that is typically released and absorbed by the body during even best procedure. Typically homeopaths, and absorbing agents like charcoal/bentonite, along with chelating agents should be given.

Regular dentists don't have a clue about the intrinsic details that go into getting the stuff out the right way, so you may be in endangering yourself by letting them do the job.

Currently there is no way of guaranteeing that a root canal is sterile. This creates breeding grounds for harmful pathogens, producing extremely harmful toxins that may seep into your system and create havoc (chronic issues may be traced back to these focal infections). Due to no blood flow to the tooth (root canaled tooth is dead tissue), your immune system will fight to keep the focal infection in the dead tooth only 24/7 and this can exhaust it and allow other infections to proliferate.

Typically, extraction is the recommended solution to get rid of these dead teeth, but perhaps some testing will show how that tooth is affecting your whole health (which most likely is one way or the other). MSA (EAV) test is often reliable and can show what intensity the root canaled tooth is affecting your health. Meridian maps showing correlation between teeth and other parts of the body can be useful to identify any links between that tooth region and symptoms in other parts of the body.

Good luck
Mike
