Thanks, Tom -- but I no longer have a microwave! It broke, and I didn't replace it (first one was a gift). I mainly used it to heat up my castor oil pack hot pad! Oh, well, apt's way too small for another microwave. I agree, your suggested pack sounds perfect. Mine probably had rice in it, too, and it was sewn in channels so there was more even distribution.
