Last summer, I bought a box of magnetic clay bath, it was the Clear-Out from http://www.magneticclay.com . I couldn't wait to use it. With my symptoms, 1-3 cups of clay was recommended. Starting with 1 cup, I used a large stainless steel bowl and my hand blender and mixed the cup of clay in with water. This made a nice thick, soupy mud concoction which I poured into the tub after it was full of water the proper temperature. I got in and soaked for 20 minutes. This particular clay was supposed to be mixed with an herb packet that was included in the box. Being the type of person who needs to test things, had already taken a bit of clay out of the box before adding the herb packet and mixed it with a bit of water, then a bit of clay after adding the packet and mixed that with water in order to have a base color to test the color of the clay when I finished the bath. The clay was supposed to turn dark if heavy metals were released into it.
After the 20 minutes, I got out of the tub and looked at the water. There was no obvious change in color. This was near bedtime so I left the clay in the tub and went to bed hoping to see it settle to the bottom. It had done so by morning so I dipped out most of the water and then took a small sample of the clay in the bottom of the tub to compare with my earlier samples. These two samples only showed minor differences. The clay with herbs had small black flakes, the non-herb clay did not. The clay from my bath was identical to the clay with herbs. No color changes, no visible sign of heavy metals.
I repeated the whole procedure a week later using 2 cups of clay this time with the same results.
As far as the question of did I feel any different...yes and no. I felt quite dehydrated and slightly nauseous after the each bath and had a somewhat nasty taste in my mouth. These effects were short term and I cannot really say that I felt any lasting positive effects.
The cleanup was not all that difficult. The clay did not form anything like a solid mass, it had more the consistency of silt. By keeping it stirred as the tub drained, it was no difficult matter to let it drain right out. It did not stick to the bottom of the tub in any way.
This is not to say that I don't recommend the magnetic clay baths, or that they don't work, it is just that they were not what I expected. Probably 2 of them were not enough and I do plan to do a longer series in the very near future. (probably starting tomorrow).
Will post again with these results.
