It sounds like it has been rough for you. Also sounds very uncomfortable. I have a few questions for you: What other body signals do you have? Any heartburn/indgestion? When I read your post, the first thing that cme to mind was your diaphragm. Have you ever had a ny traumas to your ribs and or spine? How old are you? I would encourage you to look into craniosacral therapy. Some of the techniques they use aid in releasing any tension in the diaphragm. Also, I would look into a practitioner that uses a percussor. this is used for myofascial release. It sounds like the massage is onto something but there may be fascia deeper inside the spine that is the problem.
