I've used LEDs which have similar frequencies to the lasers, 660nm and 880nm. The LEDs don't have the penetration or focus of the lasers but they do help. The 880 infrared is great for pain relief and the 660nm red is great for healing tissue. I knew a chirpractor who used a laser for treating patients as well as himself and had great succes with the laser.
