Andreas Moritz gave me an exercise once to help me to keep my heart open...he said to visualize that I was taking both hands and opening a set of french doors (double) at my chest!

Nothing to worry about with your friend! I also like that these doors open BOTH ways (in and out) and are often kitchen doors in restaurants!
