I am going to refer you to one of the best sources for information I know, Barlean's. I have no business or other interest in them other that buying their products myself. However, they have an excellent information section on their web site. I believe you will find some of your answers concerning flax seed oil there.. The link is below. On their first page, click on "Educational Literature."

In addition, I suggest you educate yourself about foods that are strong boosters if the immune system, such as foods high in anti-oxidanats. The more you know, the better you can work with your doctors to get you back on the road to good health.
