Hi, Headcase

Yeah I start thinking about timelines and I end up saying, leave well enough alone. I speak so strongly because I recognize what is happening in my life and I apply it to a grander scale. It's happening for me, it's happening for others. We can use whatever labels we want but I've been going through some major release stuff the last couple years or so. And i keep getting confirmations of stuff I've thought all by myself, without anyone else's input, well, that I was consciously aware of that is.

I tend to be a romantic but I consider myself to have good sensibility as well. You dictate your reality, Headcase. What you say is possible is, what you say isn't, isn't. If you're ever wondering about something, deciding what is and isn't possible, take your idea, and turn it upside down. Consider that the complete opposite might be possible and take it from there. Take it one step further, temporarily dismiss the next impossibility, take it one step further. Consider what would have to happen to make that a reality. Sure a lot of stuff would have to change. But there's always a start to anything. It's just problem solving on a grand scale. Take it one little problem at a time. And if you can't think of something that feels right right away, just ask the question and the answer will come to you. Just be willing to let the question sit out for a while. It may be years later, but it will come.

Am I making any sense? Why isn't it possible for people to enjoy all jobs, even the seemingly mundane ones? All jobs have their importance. What would we do without garbage men? Live in filth? You see where i'm going with this. I don't think so much about the job but rather is the person happy doing the job? And if they're not, maybe they can reach for what they really want to do.

Also, there are a lot of people that take great pride in their work, even the most mundane. It contributes to the whole. Everything has a purpose to the society, just like for the ants. Think of them. Do you think they curse when someone smashes their mound? I can't say they don't, but what do they do? Scurry to rebuild. Each individual role ant knows his purpose, his gift to the whole, and performs it to the best of his ability. And so that is my aim as well. DIfference with humans is that we have so many possibilities of combinations of roles. Plus, work isn't all of our life. There are many that have a 'job ' they enjoy but have many passions they enjoy. Maybe it will turn into a career, maybe not.

To sum it up, we have denied a lot of ourselves over time so that we don't value ourselves or our contribution. We force ourselves to do things we really don't want to, or we can't accept what's been given to us, cause we judge it and ourselves.

Think about this, do you curse yourself when you feed yourself, or bathe yourself, or wash your dishes or wash your clothes? So why would the supermarket checkers, garbage men, etc. curse their vital role? (I know some do but just go with me here) They are taking care of the whole.

Now of course comes into play the ego and all the judgement we place on this type of thing. But we change that. We can change our perspective. We can have the perspective that every role we fill is for a benefit to ourselves and someone at some time, even though, and escpecially, if we don't know what the benefit is or will be.

When you had those jobs, did it not pay your bills, feed you? Provide for you? Maybe that was the only purpose of that job, then it was accomplished.

Now I'm all for people enjoying their lives so if we really hate what we're spending time on, it makes sense to change it. My way of thinking is becoming: if I'm OK with the situation, then accept it fully, If I'm not OK with it, what can I do to change? Basically, change the circumstance or change my perspective.

By the way, I have been a corporate drone for years that is being given the opportunity to change careers pretty drastically. And you know what opportunity that was? A layoff. And I'm not ashamed to admit that if I wasn't being laid off, I don't know if I would have jumped at the chance so quickly. But it's in the past now. There's nothing like being pushed off that diving board! But 8 years of being with the same company provided for me and my family well and I am appreciative. It was exactly what I needed, being a young person with no 'formal' education, with a new baby to raise, determined to do it with my boyfriend (husband now) without the help of our controlling parents. It's just the way we wanted it. I've also worked in fast food, been a telemarketer, a waitress, housecleaning, I've even sold vacuums! Well, almost. I tried to!

OK, really didn't mean to preach. Hope I don't come off that way.

Talk to you later,
Lori
