The Thalium Stress Test may sound harmless, it is just a "test", but like most medical testing procedures, it has its side-effects. You not only expose the blood cells to dangerous radiation, but also the muscles of the most important organ in your body, the heart. There is no research to show how this affects your heart long-term, just as for decades. there was no research done on most other testing procedures like mammograms. Yet, mammograms are now recognized to be a leading cause of breast cancer because of the concentrated radiation they produce and the squashing of the delicate breast gland cells.
However, the real question should not be how to find out whether or to what degree you have a blockage in the coronory arteries, but what you can do to prevent and cure any and all possible heart problems. What are you going to do if they find out one or more of your heart arteries are blocked and need to be stented or bypassed? If such a diagnosis frightens you, you are likely to follow their advice, convincing as heart specialists can be. The logic of bypassing a blockage and thereby saving the heart from a possible attack sounds reasonable, but is heavily flawed. Blockages in the coronary arteries may cause discomfort until the body creates its own natural bypasses (turning existing capillaries into arteries), but they don't cause heart attacks. Heart attacks occur when blood clots behind freshly attached and dislodged patches of cholesterol and plaque break lose and enter the heart muscles. The cholesterol attaches itself to the artery wall only where there is an existing wound or lesion that needs to be sealed off and healed by the wound-healing hormone and lipo proteins LDL and VLDL (both considered "bad" cholesterol).
Much of the advice and recommendation you will get from the medical professionals is centered around how to remedy the symptoms of the dis-ease, which in truth is part of the solution the body uses to protect itself. They won't tell you what's actually causing this protective mechanism to set in. To become better informed about this situation and what you can do to reverse any possible degeneration of the arteries, I suggest you read the chapter on Heart Disease in my book Timeless Secrets of Health & Rejuvenation, http://www.ener-chi.com.
