"That's why drug companies don't want to use sick, older or depressed subjects for their research, for these are known to produce a lesser placebo response for their drug. They will do a number of trials and select the best trial for publication. The best one is of course, the one that had the most positive, upbeat people in the main group. "
With all due respect, what is this based on, or are you just speculating?
I am all too familiar with the drug company conflicts of interests and how they manipulate studies, with documented evidence. I am not one of their fans, that's for sure! But stating that they even choose people based on an assumption of how they will emotionally and mentally react seems a lttle baseless and stretching it.
In any case, the placebo effect is very real, as we know here, and techniques like Reiki are very susceptible to such effects. this cannot be denied.
It was mentioned that healing is something that needs to be permitted - which is basically related to a placebo effect - belief in the therapy.
