I havnt had the honor of sharing in these sufferings that you guys have-- and it is actually a high honor to suffer vicariously for others. Actually one of the highest honors. You will see after you die, how truly special that is.
I think we choose this before we are born. Just as Jesus must have chosen His sufferings before He was born. I respect you guys!
I think my soul(before I was born) was a bit more selfish and spiritually primitive to ask for that. In fact, when I was born, I was born with clenched fists. My great grandmother told my mother that meant my spiritual lesson in life was to learn to be more of a giver and not a taker and hoarder. To this day I struggle with that part of my personality-- recognizing the selfish in me is a start, at least.
I have felt God drive me quietly and sincerely to pray for those people suffering from the Tsunami. Also now those suffering in the California mudslides.
One good thing I heard was that an orphanage in Indonesia- (whose director always writes to my pastor and recieves literature) has found all their children still alive , scattered here and there- but alive and healing. He's brought them all together under one area- and my pastor is encouraging everyone to send anything they can to that director- through one of the church members handling the correspondence. The kids are all safe- thank God!
The opporunity is there for me to send what i can afford- and it will bypass any organization, and go directly to the group over there. It's up to me to accept that opportunity. Maybe I can't suffer vicariously, but, the door is open for me in some way to help :-D All of us have a part.
love
