I am not familiar with the surgical procedure incolved, but it is not risk-free. Surgery can affect fertility and cause post-surgery infection in some individuals.

Hydrocele often is associated with hernia. Since you seem to have a swelling in the stoamch area, you may want to check this out. To help the hydrocele, if hernia is an issue, it should be remedied so as not to cause a reapeat situation. Hernias are caused by gastro-intestinal problems.
