Since the colons job is to dry out the chyme and turn it into a stool it creates a hardened coating on its surface called mucoid plaque. The mucus is in the food, secreted by the entire alimentary canal with any food. Foods which are particularly bad are protected from touching the canal by thicker more dense mucus, containing higher concentration of mucopolysaccharides than water. Normally the intestinal mucus would be very watery and digest along with the food. They leave a coat of paint on the surface of the colon when these mucus dry out. Over time the paint layer grows thicker and thicker and dries out. It prevents the colon from absorbing nutrients.

Not everybody will have plaque buildup in their colon. It depends mostly on the diet over may years. The colon has very powerful muscles and can use food like grain fiber and fruit as a scrub brush to prevent buildup. But for people who drink a lot of milk, and eat a lot of refined flour, you may have some buildup depending on how long you have eaten like that. I think these are the prime foods that form the plaque. They are incredibly mucus forming, and we all know how slimy milk is in the throat after drinking it. WHen I was in high school, shortly before I became ill, I was eating 2 large brownies and 16 ounces of milk at 9pm every night as part of my routine. Cereal and milk was breakfast, and baloney sandwich and ice cream was lunch. Dinners were all american menu or McDonalds if I had activities. There was no hope of cleansing reprieve for my colon. Even so, the plaque itself was only about 1/8 inch thick, soft and rubbery. It formed a perfect cast of the inside of my colon, and came out in one piece.

In my case when I removed the colon plaque, I noticed no difference in my health. I know that it had some effect of course, but it was not the cause of my illness. It is important to get that stuff out, so that the proper function of the colon is restored, and so that liver stones cannot get trapped inthe colon, but I would not get too excited about having a health breakthrough from colon cleansing alone. Once it is cleaned of plaque, the colon will be more sensitive to pollution and you will have to stay on top of keeping it clean. This is most easily accomplished eating a healthy natural diet.

The smal intestine is a different beast, and it gets clogged up from undigested food, and milk and flour make it that much worse. Once the villi get buried in muck, the natural immune secretions from the intestine can no longer prevent growth of pathogenic bugs, nor can it absorb nutrients efficiently. This has much more of an effect on your health than the colon plaque. You will feel more of an effect from small intestine cleansing than the colon.
