It doesn't directly chelates any heavy metal in the body. It can chelates metals in the guts (and might also have the potential to also chelate some of the good minerals).

When there is less heavy metals in the intestines, heavy metals with all a higher tendency to go to the guts.

That might only be true for some metals.
