I saw something similar a few times, but I had also eaten tomatoes in some form or another the night before. I thought they were worms, but I now think they were the skins of the tomatoes after removing and examining them. They appeared to be rolled up skins of the tomato.

I purposely ate several tomato slices one night and sure enough, the next day, I had several of those 'red worms'.

If you didn't eat tomatoes, then I guess you have some critters!
