Hi Jess,
When I first found my daughters pinworms, she was having trouble sleeping. She'd go to bed at 8:30 pm and around 11:00 pm would wake up and tell me her bottom hurt. We did this for months. (The doctor said she wasn't wiping well after she went to the bathroom) She actually developed a yeast infection from them but the pediatrician couldn't even diagnose that.
Anyway, one night, I said to her, let me see for the hundredth time, and there was a white thread near her anus and I thought I saw it move. I picked it up with some kleenex and I examined it with a magnifier, but I saw nothing then. I got on the internet and matched her symptoms to pinworms. (They are so tiny, that they look like a piece of white thread)
I got the medicine from the doctor, the medicine didn't work completely as it just made them let go, and the next time she had a bowel movement it looked like medusa. They were also bigger than the first one I saw, although not much.
Anyway, after that I paid attention to her stools, and I saw bunches of those white garlic looking things. They are not undigested food, but I don't know what they are, but my daughter had lots more than I did.

Well, I've probably told you way more than you want to know.
