The picture posted of the huge colon is a condition called toxic megacolon.

Severe ulcerative colitis as well as other disease states can lead to toxic megacolon. It is indeed a freakish condition.

Wanna be really grossed out? just search Google Images for "megacolon".

It kinda makes me want to change that famous saying, "Death begins in the colon" to "Death grows in the colon".
