i would suggest the P&B shakes to start. it's cheap, and it won't hurt. do some research on the bentonite, and other healing clays. they're amazing for everything. i can't see why you couldn't use it for a sitz type bath, or douche, or compresses as well. much better than any chemical (no side effects!)
