Hi.. I think you misunderstood the dialogue. First the discussion is not about magnesium, it is about magnesium hydroxide which is only used for antacids like Maalox etc and
Milk of Magnesia.

ERGO: it is used for antacids and constipation.
You won't find Magnesium hydroxide included in a magnesium supplement intended to supply your body with the various magnesiums like Magnesium oxide, magnesium citrate, magnesium gluconate.

The peron at the beginning of the string said he is low in magnesium and thought Oxypowder would solve that too. I was simply trying to point out that the majority/probably all of magnesium hydroxide stays in the intestines and should not be confused with a magnesium supplement or change in diet to address his low mag issue. The hydroxide draws water from the body into the intestines...this would not work if the hydroxide went thru the intestines and into the blood.

Another thing to look at is the extremely high doseage of magnesium hydroxide in Milk of Magnesia and Colon Cleanse products. A conservative dose is 2,600 mg 3 times a day. That dose will NOT cause diarrhea. The folks I'm reading here taking Oxypowder are having liquid stools so dose must be higher.

For more information: do a search on magnesium hydroxide on the web.

Happy Cleansing!
Suzanne
