"most people don't do much historical research" What understatement!
Most Americans struggle when they read the cereal box! Relative to
other industrialized nations, we are brain-dead. Were it not for
the importation of intellectuals, we would be known as, "The Land of
the Mental Dwarf!" How else could the likes of George Bush (a documented
idiot) become our leader?
