Mr. Chomsky,
Do you honestly think that Saddam Hussein is a defenceless person? The butcher of Bagdad is hardly what I would call defenseless. Are you saying that like the rest of the world, that we should passively stand by while Saddam brutally murders his own people? And how about the Kurds? Should we stand by while he continues his ethnic cleansing?
This certainly is nothing like Viet Nam, and interestingly, the people we are really protecting are our European "friends" that criticize us with such vehemence!
Mr. Chomsky, what exactly is it that you seem to think we are going to gain from dethroning Saddam? Besides spending billions to rebuild Iraq what is it that we will benefit by from Iraq?
Do you remember World War II? Lots of folks thought like you. What business did we have in Europe? Adolph Hitler had every right to build "toys" in his toy factories. What do you suppose the 8 to 12 million people that died in gas chambers and sub-human conditions would say to you? What does it take to teach people that evil does have to be dealt with before it spreads like a cancerous growth?
