I have a medical-grade ozonator, that comes with a charcoal filter to trap the extra ozone. That's what you smell, and you're not supposed to breathe it. I read that the ozone bubbles should be tiny, not large. The cheap ozonator I bought had lots of odor and large bubbles. The good one has neither.
