HOLISTIC HEALING
(Mind-Body-Spirit)
"I shall be whole,"
Holistic healing deals with the whole person-Mind (mental), Body (physical), and Spirit (Wisdom, Intuition, Higher Power, Holy Spirit/Ghost, even God-Self or Guardian Angel). In the psychology field, the mind part would be the "conscious mind," the body part would be the "subconscious mind," also referred to as the "inner child," and the spirit part would be the "super-conscious mind." In this guide, we primarily refer to the three parts as the spirit being "High Self," the mind part being "Middle Self," and the body part being "Low Self." Our form of Holistic Healing concentrates on understanding the whole self in order to bring it into proper harmonious order.
To put into perspective how the three parts work: It's like in cartoons where a character has a choice to make. On one shoulder appears a devil image of the character and on the other shoulder appears an angel image. In our experience, that is actually a very profound example of how it really works.
There can be a tug of war going on, which can create a very extreme experience, depending on the situation and/or the strength of the emotional desire. As in the cartoon, the devil self, which represents the Low Self, is usually very strong in its coaxing and is very determined to get its way. The angel self, which represents the High Self is usually very calm, collected, and gentle with advice. The devil self is typically motivated by self-gratification, can be very impatient, and has little or no regard whatsoever for the consequences its desire will have on itself or others. The angel self, on the other hand, gently points out the possible consequences and affect. Then, of course, there is the character itself, which represents the Middle Self, which is the one responsible for making the final choice.
The term "mind over matter" is part of the Holistic Healing process. The body being matter and the mind, in right use, "consciously" leads it. "Where the mind goes, the body will follow."
Low Self
(Body, Subconscious)
Low Self is the child in each of us. It does not reason. It craves instant gratification, and is subject to addictions and emotional issues. It manages our body (health) and it does not know right from wrong. It has to be guided. Low Self is not bad; it just does not know any better.
Middle Self
(Mind, Conscious)
Middle Self is the parent. It is the decision-maker and logical thinker. But like most parents, it may lack the wisdom to parent the Low Self in a healthy manner.
High Self
(The Spirit, Wisdom, Intuition, Higher Power, Super-Conscious,
Guide, Guardian Angel, Holy Spirit/Ghost)
There is much debate as to what this means and as to whether it even exists. We firmly believe in the spirit and we choose to be forward and honest in what we perceive and believe this to be, without reservation. We very much respect and appreciate all perceptions and opinions, and understand it is for the readers to decide for themselves.
The High Self aspect of our being is love, wisdom, understanding, and even all-knowing. It is a constant, yet gentle guide. It can be a more powerful guide depending on the situation and the choice to be made. For example: If a possible choice will have a dramatic affect on the life plan of the whole self, and/or the life of another, then High Self's influence will be felt more strongly. The more open and receptive we are to the guidance of High Self, the more profound our intuition becomes.
High Self is always in and of the Energy of Life, which we like to call "The Life Force Energy," as referred to in Reiki. High Self resides and guides in Pure Love and Infinite Patience. In being pure in love, High Self will never force the Middle and/or Low Self to choose in any certain way, but it may exert more energy when, as stated above, the choice might have a dramatic affect on the overall life plan.
