I couldn't agree more with you Shawn. As soon as you mention anything that is out of the normal experience of people or has to do with bodily waste they close their ears. My boss (and friend) and his wife are doing the Atkins diet together and people are all ears and want to know all about how they've lost the weight. Personally I think it's great that they are doing this for themselves but I do have a problem with the simplistic way that it comes across from them. They seem to see all carbs as equal. It seems that refined Sugar is equivalent to an apple or avacado in their world! But since this diet has recently received good press everyone is open to what they say. But when I mention liver flushing, bowel cleansing or the Master-Cleanse I'm looked at as if I'm some kind of alien. Since I don't have a weight problem it doesn't register in their minds when I say that I'm doing these things to improve my health. In most people's minds that what doctors are for not some "crazy stuff" that one reads off the internet. A coworker (who does have some health issues) told me that it was disgusting and he didn't want to hear anything about it. Even the friend that is doing the Atkins glazed over when I mentioned the fact that most people have a great deal of fecal matter encrusted in their gut and cleaning out that would be a great way to loose some weight and improve their health. Blank Stares!
All you can do is continue to improve youself and when someone notices let them in on the good news. Can't wait for the weird looks when I start the Master-Cleanse again Saturday (at least 2 weeks this time).
