Hello,

I wanted to share with you that I'm reading an interesting book called "Breaking the Vicious Cycle" by Elaine Gottschall.

Basically, the book is targeted to people with digestive disorders such as Crohn's, Celiac, etc. These people are normally told to avoid gluten (grain flour, etc, but Gottschall recommends avoid all carbohydrates not on her diet. A friend of mine is having great success. For example, she learned that when she ate potatoes, she would become very angry. Now, on the diet, she's doing much better. Note that she's not schizophrenic, but does have Celiac).

She has one chapter, however, on "The Brain Connection." In that chapter she states:

"True schizophrenia (and not only schizophrenic syndromes) appears to be the result of chronic intoxication from psychotoxic factors produced in the intestine."

She also states: It is interesting to note that in June, 1985, the Schizophrenia Association of Great Britain launched a research project to investigate Dr. F. C. Dohan's research concerning a relationship between celiac disease and schizophrenia. The basis for this project is a strict grain-free, milk-free, low Sugar diet, closely related to the Specific Carbohydrate Diet."

You may want to read more.
