I personally wouldn't take Zantac. I would want to know if I indeed had excessive stomach acid. This is most often not the case and the opposite is usually true. Low stomach acid can cause all kinds of digestive problems/distress. There is a test that can be performed to verify stomach PH and acid levels. If you are having reflux problems I would try proper food combining to see what affect this has. Are you aware of what proper food combining is?
Also a healthy, natural approach to excess gastric acid (if this is indeed the case)is taking DGL. Enzymatic therapy makes a good source. There are other good sources as well. THis is healing to the stomach mucosa and not irritating as is Zantac.
You may want to pick up a copy of a great book by Sherry Rogers MD. It's called No More Heartburn and can be found HERE
Don't let the MD title beside her name fool you. She utilizes all kinds of alternative healing methods in her practice.
Zantac has also been known to cause or contribute to Leaky Gut Syndrome. Be careful.
