atheist (as a rule) are very "egotistical"... and if one understands that the "ego" is only a figment of ones imagination... a character we conger up in our own minds of who we think we are... (rather than who we truly are)... then one can readily see why the "ego" would deny the existence of God... these type people in general cannot be made to see... or face the truth about themselves... they are very closed minded... very obstinate... always have to be right about everything... and they have a wall of defense that is not easily penetrated...

but one needs to understand that beneath it all is fear... the "ego" is a very strong defense mechanism... and is a natural occurance... but sometimes this need to defend gets blown out of proportion... and often times takes on a life of it's own... and it is all on the pretense of self protection... in most cases these people have to hit a bottom of some kind... that will jar them awake... or a "wake up call" if you prefer...

anyhow... just a few of my thoughts... and maybe give you something to chew on...
