Lapis - I am sorry you took offence to what I wrote. I was simply expressing my beliefs. I guess some of my remarks were inflammatory & prehaps even derogatory and for that I apologise. I should have chosen my words more carefully.

I also want to say that I cannot (& choose not to even try to) argue a case for Jesus truly being the Son of God. Winning arguments is not what it's about.

I've been reading a lot of the postings on this forum & I have to say that some of your observations about christians are right.
(I said SOME! :-))

I am not sure what definition of dogma you are referring to in your repsonse to my posting. I guess it's one with a negative connotation. There is a lot of 'dogma' (of a negative kind) in the Church & that is sad. Like everyone else, we make mistakes all the time, some big, some small.

Over the centuries, many people who say that they follow Jesus Christ have been bound by legalistic thought patterns & practices; have been guilty of being self righteous or 'holier than thou'; have poured condemnation on those who didn't believe in Jesus & tired to frighten them into becoming christians; have been complete hypocrites (having a log in their eye!); and have done some despicable things in the name of religion. The Crusades were horrific.

Since you've read the Bible 3 times, you'll know that Jesus had a lot to say about people who were like this, & none of it is very pleasant! In his days, they were the pharisees & saducees.

I myself, have said, thought & done some pretty unloving things in my time. I have had to ask God (& other people) to forgive me so many times, & start over again. This is why I am saying sorry now. I hope you can forgive me for the words that caused you offense. I am not afraid of confrontation or debating (even if I am not that proficient in either), or speaking the truth but I certainly do not want to put anyone down in any way.
