I took Accutane approximately 17 years ago. I was on the recommended dosage for a month. But later, I started increasing my doses to twice a day. That lasted 3 or 4 days. In short, I believe what I did to myself has caused irreversible damage.
Although I don't think its entirely due to my OD for several days... It was also my dermatologists fault for not monitoring my blood - which they were suppose to do.
When I told my dermatologist this, she said I was very stupid to do so..
But... I notice one of friend who took this drug and referred to me also had similar sympton I had. He was a little clumsy. ANd he's the type who followed everything to a T.
So today, I'm a little less cordinated. I look like I aged 10 years beyond my years. Sometimes my muscles becomes overly numb.
I don't feel like myself at all. Sometimes, I secrete excess fluid from my mouth, saliva, my body craves alot of water. I feel like vomiting for no reasons sometimes.
I use to be able to write beautiful Caligraphy, now my hand coordination sucks, it feels like I'm writing with a glove.
And my complexion today is as bad as ever. When I was taking accutane, it basically froze alot of my glands so that made my face 'white' almost ghost like, yea it got rid of the acne, and some scarring was less visible, but today, those scars is clearly visible.
It also caused some neurological damage. I use to be a straight A student, now I'm having problems focusing, I need to put in alot of effort to be focused. Maybe this is not entirely due to Accutane, but if I had to do it all over again, I would never ever do it again. I rather live with a scarred face than this un-natural, chemo-therapy like aftermath. I also gained ALOT of weight in my abdomen, my bone structure looks a little unnatural.
Good luck if you want to take it. This is the worst drug ever.
