Hi Chaz, I haven't read this entire post because it is very long. It seems to be heated as to whether a Type 1 should stop insulin. I'm Type 1 and as you suggested it is something that needs to be weaned off of. However, I have not found the magic treatment to "cure" me of Type 1 short of stopping ALL carbs. That, however, is something I can't do because of mild kidney damage thanks to my diabetes.

I, myself, am on an insulin pump and for people who are on an insulin pump, you learn very quickly that you need insulin even if you don't eat anything. This is due to the hormones produced in the body requires insulin.

I was wondering if you could share with me anything you know about "curing" Type 1 and not just another treatment for the symptoms. I know that every Type 1 I talk to is just as frustrated as I am that all research goes into treating Type 2s and nothing comes around for us Type 1s.
