I've heard of this method before. The juiceman guy suggests doing that if your cucumbers are waxed (you can tell if it's shiny and i think you can also tell by the feel of the cucumber)

Just bring the water to a boil and dip it in for about 1 minute or maybe even less. That shouldn't harm the nutritious makeup too much, at least i wouldn't think so.
