Please help! I have been experiencing an unusual Acne flare-up. I always had one or two medium sized pimples, especially during my monthly cycle. However, for the previous year my skin had gotten progressively worse. It started sometime last winter with one or two pimples not during my monthly cycle, which was very unusual. At that time I just attributed to a stressful personal situation, which is not longer an issue. Then in the summer my face seemed to clear up. Not sure why, but my skin looked better then it ever had. I did not have any pimples. Then starting in the fall my pimples started coming back, but they were different. They were painful, under my skin pimples. They would push my skin up and make it very red. My skin would feel very tight. And if I smiled or moved my face I could feel the pimple, very painful and uncomfortable. I had never had pimples like this before. Well about a month ago I experienced a major flare-up on my chin and as soon as they go away new ones form right next to the old pimple.

I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed azelaic acid a topical and an antibiotic. I used the topical, but know that using an Antibiotic long term is not the answer.

I really don't know what could have caused the sudden change in my skin's appearance. After the flare-up I started taking flaxseed oil, evening primrose and other vitamins and minerals, which might have been lacking from my diet such as vitamin E, beta-carotene, magnesium, calcium and lecithin. But nothing had really changed and it seems as if the Acne if moving to different parts of my face. I have heard that breakouts along the chin and neck signal hormonal imbalances. At this point I am just really looking for some good advice. I just turned 26 and my face is three times as bad as it ever was while I was a teenager.
