One odd thing I've noticed about coconut oil is that if you need it because your skin is flaky and dry, its humectant properties add much-need moisture. But if you use it on skin that's oily, it deep cleans and removes impurities, but doesn't really seem to add more oiliness. It's a very "clean" oil. I think it's certainly worth a try on your scalp!
