So far, all I can find is history of the practice, and many, many opinions and stances.
I think, if it were harmless or beneficial, advocates and 'official' types wouldn't need to defend it.
Where are the studies of actual people, and what happened to them?
There's an odd element of 'other fellow' to this question, with the secrecy, and embarrassment, and the posturing by those who hide behind 'doctrine'. A lot of, "YOU should..."
Let's examine the real results. Heaven knows there are enough examples.
I suspect the loss of tenderness and intimacy has had a major influence on all this world. And that those who 'have' and 'have not' don't understand each other, maybe can't understand.
Let's find out, once and for all, by asking what it's like for the other fellow.
If you've seen statistical studies we can learn from, please tell. Who should we ask? Behavioral psychologists?
Surely this is a basic question in every study.
