But that's Jewish practice and isn't followed in other countries other than amongst non-Christian groups.

It's true that the more ancient Jewish practices weren't quite so severe in the amount they cut off. But you haven't explained why the US is alone in the Western world in making it a general practice to remove so large a part of the male penis of newborn boys.
