""survival of the fittest" is a concept that only the strong will survive. Animals are selfish creatures who look to do nothing more than eat, drink, and pro-create. The strongest will get the best cut of meat. The strongest always take advantage of the weak. I do not believe that humans have this concept as a basis for their foundation. We're simply too emotionally sensitive creatures for that."

I do not separate humans from the "survival of the fittest" concept. This is proven time and time again in catastrophic circumstances across the globe several times a year. During these events, the people most likely to die are the very young, very old, sick or handicapped. Those that do survive in these previous categories do so with the help of a friend or family member who has the strength and stamina to "rescue" them and themselves. There will always be a few who will become heros by going back for those in need, but "after" having secured their own and loved ones safety first; unless there is no one left to save.

I have been in catastrophic circumstances and humans become "animals" rather quickly when survival is all that matters.

In an urban environment where we have what we need (not necessarily what we want), this does not happen...
