Your dog hangs his head because he understands disapproval by his superior. This is displayed in the wild all the time I'm sure. But GUILT? You really think your dog walks around and regrets anything he did without you there to scold him? I highly doubt it.
What I mean by giving is like at Christmas. It's always good to get something neat, but what really fills your heart is when you GIVE something that makes someone else overjoyed. Giving to your kids, for instance....Helping a needy person, giving to charity, helping an old lady in the neighborhood by mowing her yard for free, telling someone you love them...or that they look pretty -- you know....these are things that fill your spirit with love. These things make us uniquely human.
"survival of the fittest" is a concept that only the strong will survive. Animals are selfish creatures who look to do nothing more than eat, drink, and pro-create. The strongest will get the best cut of meat. The strongest always take advantage of the weak. I do not believe that humans have this concept as a basis for their foundation. We're simply too emotionally sensitive creatures for that.
