I agree and have stopped using peroxide in CS. It is interesting to see how CS darkens when you add only a couple of drops of peroxide. More puzzling though is that when you add peroxide to a batch that is at least a couple of days old, the reaction is almost not noticible! Why? I don't buy the particle size argument or the "stability" argument. I would like a real explanation from a chemist that is not as speculative.
Also, you could get past the mercury issue just by using a straw. I still believe peroxide by itself (very dilute of course) is still a good alternative to ozonated water if you don't have an ozonator. I just can't stand the taste! Ozonated water is better for me and makes me think of the Crystal C. bubbling springs that I grew up around in Maine when I was a kid (it really has that same taste and smell, it's amazing). So I drink Ozone for the memories.
