not unaccounted for as such. I think you have an incomplete understanding of what analysis involves. do you have much schooling in chemistry?

in a peer-reviewed journal these questions may well be tackled in the correspondence - this is why to properly read a paper you need to read any accompanying letters etc. the raw data will be available from the authors - another characteristic of peer-reviewed publications.
