Grog this is a debate forum so you should expect to see dissenting opinions expressed. As for the debate what have you brought to the topic?

This is as good as place as any to post my update. After dissection of the liver(s) and gall bladder along with all the connecting ducts my wife and I showed it to a friend of ours that is going to nusrsing school. She mentioned that they were now working on thier gross anatomy portion and that they had five cadavers they were workig on. Well she talked to the instructor and he agreed to allow us to come in and see the real deal!! While the smell of formaldahyde was pretty strong the experience was fantastic. The liver and gall bladder in the human looked just like the ones from the pigs we slaughtered. We talked to the instructor a bit about gall stones and he said that they see them sometimes...not all the time as is indicated here. He also showed us how a gall stone about 8 mm in diameter is sufficient to block bile flow. We mentioned the size of the stones along with the numbers of stones that people claim to have passed from their gall bladders and that really raised his eyebrows. He stated that in his 25 years of dissections on 10-12 cadavers per year he has never seen anything like that. He also has never seen any melting stones. Now this man has observed up close and personal over 250 people with their guts laid carefully open and has never ever seen anything like people claim to have passed out of their livers. He did make mention of the very dramatic and life threatening conditions that can result from bile flow blockage and cannot understand how a person could think their gall bladder could be so full of stones that there were no room for bile. One or the other views are incorrect and as I don't think anyone here has actually seen a liver let alone dissected one out of the human body I am tending to believe what I saw with my own eyes!!

Now Grog perhaps you could enlighten us as to why this might be? Also have you ever seen a liver from a human while it is still in the body?
