Sofia,
Everything you said is so true. About 3 years ago, I took 14 months off to try to realize my dream. I had great success in one year, which amazed me for being an emerging unknown. But, at the end of the day, I just could not make enough money needed to help support my family.
I worked hard on the marketing. I won some awards. I was a big seller of jewelry.
Then I went on a creative binge with all the freedom, and was veering all over the place with mediums. I would lay awake at night thinking up the next sculpture, the next piece of jewelry. I was working in glass and metal and then I fell in love with decoupage on glass. Basically, I went nuts. All that creative energy made it very difficult to leave the studio and market. I then started becoming a hermit, only leaving my cave to go to my sellers, or galleries. I didn't shower for days, I barely got dinner on the table for my family. I was covered in glue and paint and glass dust. I was dragging home bags of cement, knowing that I could incorporate this into something! I now know why Van Gogh cut off his ear.
Then I had to go back to work. It almost killed me, and I didn't do any artwork for one year. I'm off work again for a bit, but have to go back soon. I'm trying to find that balance in my work life so that I can do both. And this time I'm calmer about my creative process. Once art is integrated into your life, to suppress it can make you quite ill! I found that out the hard way.
I decided to go the internet route, and am working on a website. I hope this is something that will pay for my materials at least. Anyway, that's my hope.
Here is a link to my stuff I've posted here - do you have any images?

Thanks for responding Sofia! Peace, Molly
