If there is peace with honor available, then working toward peace is favored by God, S VII 61.

In Iraq, for instance, the United States could be viewed as searching for a peaceful solution to a wide range of problems, rather than being unwaveringly set on the total domination and opression of Iraq.

Those Muslims who work at negoitiating problems in the interests of an honorable peace, which respects Islam, are blessed and protected by God. Those who attempt to create the groundwork for peace accords, and those who attempt to implement concepts of peace accords, are also blessed by God.

The Quran distinguishes Peace Makers from cowards. A coward is a person who is afraid to fight for fear of personal risk. A coward is a person who feels overpowered by an enemy, and recognizes that the enemy seeks a peace that is unfairly balanced in the interests of the opressor.

Reasonable Muslims may disagree on the intent of the United States. There is some basis in fact for some Muslims to believe that the intent of the U.S. is ovebearing and opressive, and those Muslims would be blessed by God for fighting the opressor bravely. The same situtation may be viewed differently by other Muslims. There is some basis in fact for some Muslims to believe that the U.S. does not wish to be an oprressor, and only wishes to find accords by which peace can be maintained, and freedom for those Muslims seeking prosperity, can be assured. Muslims working to fashion and implement Peace Accords which Respect Islam would also be blessed by God.

The idea of Unity for Muslims is fairly clear in the tenor of the writings of the Qur'an. It was the hope that is clear in many passages of the Qur'an for Muslims to minimize disssent among Muslims by giving clear princples for ethics and bravery. For the Middle East, there are two correct paths, fighting and making peace, depending upon the view of the facts by the individual Believer. I suggest that Unity should be secondary goal of Islam, and the primary goal should be the debate of the issue of how an honorable peace can be made, if at all.

God will know your heart.

For books on Isalm, I rcommend a new book not yet listed on the website, "Self Building," KB1011, $18.00. Another book on these issues, that is listed, is "Non-Violence and Islam" DAWAH Booklet, KB152, $2.00. I have glanced over "Self Building," and there are ethical princples listed, with references to the Quar'an, and approaches to build personal self-discipline in the various areas of self improvement. I have ordered it, but not yet studied "Self Building".

Blessings from God
