I've know for some time that i have death issues...meaning i am often anxious, scared, and/or sad in thinking about the inevitability of death. Recently one of my beloved cat companions died and I was a little surprised at the depth of my anguish. After finally emerging from the heavy grief stage, I find myself wanting to somehow strengthen my acceptance of this part of life. I wish I could find some peace about the subject.
I find it a little strange that most people don't want to talk about death, let alone "deal" with it. When I ask others about their take on death, most people say they try not to think about it. That doesn't work for me. I can't just "not think about it". There are others who have a real strong religious foundation which helps them to understand and relate to death. I obviously don't have such a foundation. But i definitely want to increase my faith, my knowing (not just believing) that after death something within us continues. I am hungry to hear about anything that supports this idea - that after death, somehow we continue.....
any thoughts/feelings about this issue would be so welcome.
